Hyperkalemia in Finerenone-Treated Patients with CKD: A FIND-CKD Analysis
In the FIND-CKD study, finerenone raised serum [K+] independent of eGFR, UACR, and SGLT-2i use
Clinically serious hyperkalemia events were uncommon, and rates of hospitalization related to hyperkalemia were low; none were fatal
- As in diabetic CKD, determinants of hyperkalemia in nondiabetic CKD are:
- A higher baseline serum [K+] (>4.5 mmol/L)
- A lower eGFR (<45 mL/min/1.73 m2)
A higher UACR (>1000 mg/g)
- The same monitoring rules for serum [K+] apply to diabetic and nondiabetic CKD
